Jordan&#8221; (p. 39-41)<\/p><p><br \/>One of Satan&#8217;s most effective techniques has been to discredit one truth by pretending to exalt another. Here is a classic example. Ellen White is attacked by people who claim to want to hear only the Bble, but who reject that portion of the Scriptures that foretells the gift of prophecy in the last days.<\/p><p>..the Son of God was crucified at the insistence of theologians who rejected His message with the concept of Sola Scriptura. They had Moses; they had not intention of listening to a Galilean carpenter. And thereby they rejected the Creator Himself.<\/p><p>The expression Sola Scriptura arose out of the Protestant Reformation. The question then Was What is the source of prime authority in matters of faith and practice? For Rome, it was the church. For Protestants, it was the Bible and the Bible alone &#8211; not the Bible and tradition. Recognizing the conflict as the origin of the expression Sola Scriptura, we cannot allow it to split the Bible away from its own doctrine on spiritual gifts. &#8220;The Bible and the Bible alone&#8221; was never meant to pit Scripture against the gift of prophecy, for both arise from the same Holy Spirit.<\/p><p>Of course, the Bible is the basis for Seventh-day Adventism. the truth of Adventism came out of intense study of the Word of God, and it is still fully supportable out of Scripture. But those who reject the added blessing of the Spirit of Prophecy remind me of an astronomer who claims to be a purist, who insists on information direct from the stars, and resents the intrusion of an intervening telescope.<\/p><p>And so in the messages of Ellen White we are confronted with an issue that forces a decision. We may not like what she says, but we cannot ignore her.<\/p><p>&#8220;All who believe that the Lord has spoken through Sister White, and has given her a message. will be safe from the many delusions that will come in these last days, &#8220;she wrote in 1906, and earlier she had warned that &#8220;on thing is certain: Those Seventh-day Adventists who take their stand under Satan&#8217;s banner will first give up their faith in the warnings and reproofs contained in the Testimonies of God&#8217;s Spirit.&#8221; (Selected Messages, book 3, p, 84)<\/p><p>Even her attackers unwittingly validate the very messages they try to discredit, for they fulfill a prediction she made back in 1890.<\/p><p>&#8220;The very last deception of Satan will be to make of none effect the testimony of the Spirit of God&#8230;.There will be a hatred kindled against the testimonies which is satanic. The workings of Satan will be to unsettle the faith of the churches in them, for this reason: Satan cannot have so clear a track to bring in his deceptions and bind up souls in his delusions if the warnings and reproofs and counsels of the Spirit of God are heeded.&#8221; (Selected Messages, book 3, p, 48)<\/p><p>One of the major tactics in general lucifer&#8217;s battle plan is an attack on the Spirit of Prophecy. For him that is an absolute military necessity. And in implementing it he reveals to thoughtful Adventists exactly where they stand in the stream of human history.<\/p><p>&#8220;The very last deception&#8230;&#8221; We are at the Jordan. Time has almost run out. In\u00a0<a class=\"x-el x-el-a c1-1z c1-20 c1-94 c1-17 c1-18 c1-2v c1-22 c1-6y c1-b c1-2x c1-29 c1-2y c1-2b\" href=\"https:\/\/m.egwwritings.org\/en\/book\/113.118#118\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Testimonies for the Church 5:25<\/a>, is found a statement written in 1882: PBORWEW 18.2<\/p><p>\u201cThe Bible is the most comprehensive and the most instructive history which men possess&#8230; Its bright rays shine into the far distant past, where human research seeks vainly to penetrate.<\/p><p><em class=\"x-el x-el-span c1-1z c1-20 c1-b c1-8z c1-2c c1-29 c1-91 c1-92\">\u201cIn God\u2019s word alone we find an authentic account of creation&#8230; Here only can we find a history of our race, unsullied by human prejudice or human pride<\/em>.\u201d<\/p><p>Yet earlier she had in 1864 published\u00a0<em class=\"x-el x-el-span c1-1z c1-20 c1-b c1-8z c1-2c c1-29 c1-91 c1-92\">Spiritual Gifts,<\/em>\u00a0Volume 3, presenting in considerable detail the story of creation and early world history. In this she presents many details not found in the Bible. She claimed that God had through her shed light on the history of holy men of old. Here are her words as found in the introduction of the 1864 book: PBORWEW 18.3<\/p><p>\u201cIn presenting this, my third little volume, to the public, I am comforted with the conviction that\u00a0<em class=\"x-el x-el-span c1-1z c1-20 c1-b c1-8z c1-2c c1-29 c1-91 c1-92\">the Lord has made me his humble instrument in shedding some rays of precious light upon the past.<\/em>\u00a0Sacred History relating to holy men of old is brief&#8230;<\/p><p>\u201cSince the great facts of faith, connected with the history of holy men of old, have been opened to me in vision; also, the important fact that God has nowhere lightly regarded the sin of the apostate, I have been more than ever convinced that ignorance as to these facts, and the wily advantage taken of this ignorance by some who know better, are the grand bulwarks of infidelity.
